Description:
The distinguishable smooth, grey bark is one of many beautiful traits of this majestic tree. A slow-growing, grand lawn specimen will need a large area to grow for its wide-spreading canopy. Ideal for shade, with edible nuts and beautiful Fall colour. The golden bronze leaves will hold on well into the Winter.
American beech prefers moist, well-drained, fertile soil. It performs best in moderate to slightly acidic soils and does not tolerate salt, or wet locations, as well as not being drought tolerant. It is long-lived, often 200 to 300 years old, which will be enjoyed by many generations. Pruning is done when the tree is dormant.
