Description:

This blueberry is vigorous and fast-growing being a Highbush variety.  It is covered with clusters of bell-shaped blossoms, with petals that often blush with a hint of pink. Its berries develop in unison, allowing you to pick them all at once. The delicious, sweet fruit of the Blue Jay ripens in mid-season, forming medium-sized berry clusters, which shine against the deep green foliage. The berries are mild in flavor with firm, sweet flesh. Excellent for pies and jam, and they also freeze well.  To increase fruit production, plant with another highbush variety.

Your Highbush Blueberry prefers full sun, but will tolerate partial shade. Find a location with rich soil that is moist to wet, preferring acidic soil, and plant with plenty of peat moss and mulch, or plant with the Acid Loving Plant & Berry Soil mix from Fafard. Feed blueberry bushes in early spring before flowers emerge with organic, acidic fertilizer to encourage new growth. Fruit size and production is improved when two or more cultivars are planted together. After fruiting, prune out any branches more than 4 years old to ensure subsequent fruit production.
