This native tree, also known as Quaking Aspen, forms a narrow, rounded crown with ascending branches becoming wider with maturity. The bark colour is a beautiful silvery-white and has nearly round, glossy dark green leaves in the summer. Fall colours are bright yellow. The leaves “rustle or tremble” in the slightest breeze, due to the flat leaf stems.  Aspen is noted for its great erosion control due to its suckering nature.  

Prefers humusy, consistently moist, well-drained soils in full sun.
