Description:
Chandler develops one of the largest blueberries with fruit the size of cherries. It has a long ripening season and will provide gardeners with a bounty of sweet and juicy berries for fresh picking for up to six weeks. Burgundy and orange foliage provides fantastic fall colour.
Highbush Blueberry shrubs prefer full sun, but will tolerate partial shade. Find a spot with rich soil that is moist to wet, preferring acidic soil, with plenty of peat moss and mulch, or plant with the Acid Loving Plant & Berry Soil mix from Fafard. Feed blueberry bushes in early spring before flowers emerge with organic, acidic fertilizer to encourage new growth. Fruit size and production is improved when two or more cultivars are planted together. After fruiting, prune out any branches more than 4 years old to ensure subsequent fruit production.
