Dense, dark green foliage with bluish silver undersides emerge light green in Spring. A beautiful, low-maintenance shrub in a rock garden or small landscape.
Pruning is only needed to remove any dieback, or with hand pruners on a branch here or there to maintain the ball form. Serbian spruce grows well in full sun to light shade with protection from the winter wind. If grown in too much shade the tree becomes thin and leggy and will not thrive. Serbian spruce prefers rich, moist but well-drained soil. Adequate rainfall or watering will be needed in a hot, sunny area.
