Description:
Vibrant reddish new leaves emerge to form a tidy compact shrub. The leaves mature to yellow with red tips on all new growth. Clusters of small pink flowers attract pollinators in early Spring. Fall colour brings rich russet red leaves.

Pruning is key to this species of Spirea. To maintain the size, prune and shape the twigs in early Spring before new leaves break. Shear immediately after blooming, and a fresh new shrub with red tips forms once again, followed by a second flowering. Once established, thin out the ⅓ of the oldest branches to the ground in Spring, every few years. This will eliminate a woody shrub and keep it vigorous. This variety can tolerate shadier locations (with fewer flowers), to brighten up the area. Tolerant of a wide range of soils and is drought tolerant.
