Description:.
‘Royal White’ blooms earlier with more and larger flowers than other white Redbuds. Clusters of snow-white, pea-sized flowers seem to dot all the bare branches. Heart-shaped leaves emerge with pretty bronze tones, later changing to green. The leaves will progress to a lovely blue-green becoming a beautiful yellow for outstanding Fall colour. If planted in full sun this redbud will have a more well-rounded, symmetrical tree form. Redbuds can also be planted in partial shade or partial sun. The structure will be more open, with an irregular shape as the limbs branch out looking for the sun. This open look, as well as the bright flowers, adds dimension and colour to a shaded garden.

Eastern redbuds grow well in full sun to part shade. Full sun typically encourages optimal flowering and a tighter structure, but they will tolerate light shade to filtered sun.  Redbud will tolerate sandy and clay soils with a range of pH levels. The soil should remain consistently moist, but most importantly, the soil must drain well.  Its branches are susceptible to breaking, so try to plant it out of strong winds, which also protects them from cold winter winds.  Prune your redbud tree in winter before blooming starts. Prune when the plant is young to create a strong structure to control multiple trunks, and or the form of the tree.
