Description:
A cross between silver maple (acer saccharinum) and red maple (acer rubrum), freemanii cultivars are faster growing, and change colour in the fall earlier than other rubrum cultivars. This beautiful tree forms an upright, oval crown evenly branched with a strong central leader and is almost seedless. The green leaves in the summer turn from rusty-orange to burgundy tones for glorious fall colour.
Pruning maple trees at the end of summer is an ideal time to do so. Most maples prefer moist soil with good drainage.
